![]() ![]() Also, most record cleaning fluids have to be rinsed after you clean the record. A dry clean with a brush etc is good, but not enough to remove a lot of the dirt. One other thing to consider is your cleaning process for your records. I believe the AT-LP120 also has a felt mat, so that might be the issue. You can tell the static is gone too because the records won't ever stick to the mat when you try to pick them up. The moment I switched to a rubber mat, all of that static crackling was gone. I tried switching to a cork turntable mat, since cork shouldn't conduct electricity, but for whatever reason it didn't really help all that much. With my previous turntable though, I had the exact same issue you had because it had a felt mat. My Debut Carbon doesn't use a mat, since it has an acrylic platter, and that made all the difference since my records no longer get all static-y. I don't have an anti-static gun, but I find that your mat makes a huge difference. I notice that I get the same kind of crackling with clean records that I get with dirty ones if there's static. If you cleaned both the stylus and the record, then static sounds like the main culprit. PS: After posting, I noticed that I didn't mention the video of the crackling sound was taken after thoroughly cleaning the record and the stylus. Since this is my first post I'd also be very happy of any recommendations regarding my setup, extra components, even records. Today after closely inspecting my stylus I found a weird fiber on it, after zooming into it with my phone camera and then zooming into the photo: here This can't be normal, right? And I can't seem to get it off, but it's true that I'm maybe being a bit too careful since I'm afraid I'll damage something. Here's a video, it may not seem like much of a problem but it really ruins the relatively quiet songs like the one playing here: video see here :)Ĭrackling is a huge problem I've had since I started listening to my records, but there's so much contradictory info online that I can't seem to figure out how to fix it (I am also limited to free or very cheap methods because of my financial situation). Since I got it I have accumulated a small collection of some of my favorites. I got my record setup a month and a half ago: ![]() Hi r/vinyl! This is my first post here, but I've been following for a few months already. ![]()
